The Netflix refuge of Unimaginative Conversations

The trick is to keep a low effort bar to increase adoption, a low intellectual bar to drive consumption, a thorough marketing effort that can only be called cultural carpet bombing, and then topping it off with engineered addictiveness. It’s great for business but terrible for conversations. This is a lament on the steady replacement of the already-humdrum conversational questions with “so, what are you watching on Netflix these days?”
